Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University, a state university founded in 2007. It is located in the southeast of the Marmara Region. It consists of 6 different campuses together with the Central Campus. The central campus has an area of 46 ha. Currently, the university has about 19,200 students. There are 10 Faculties, 3 Schools and 6 Departments providing undergraduate education, 11 Vocational Colleges providing undergraduate and pre-undergraduate education, 3 Institutes providing postgraduate education and 12 Research and Application Centres. There is an academic preparatory class that gives education in the English language at a high level. The university aims to educate students so they can produce research, knowledge, technology, social and artistic value and develop the skill to apply what they have produced to real life and in this way become individuals who can shape the future. The university employ about 730 academic staff, 545 administrative staff and 160 permanent employees. Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University has a wide campus that is growing. It has several multipurpose meetings, conferences, and seminar halls on its main campus. Bilecik, which is almost a crossroads between the major cities in the Marmara Region, provides quick access to all of Türkiye via land and railway networks. Bilecik is a 30-minute drive from Bursa Yenişehir Airport, and there is also air transportation to the city. According to the results of the UI Green Metric World Universities Ranking System 2022, Bilecik Seyh Edebali University is among the top 300 greenest universities in the world, based on sustainability, education, infrastructure, environment and energy, and climate change.

There are 6 departments in total in the Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences of the university, namely Horticulture, Plant Protection, Biosystems Engineering, Agricultural Economics, Field Crops, Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. The field crop department is included the grassland, pasture and forage crops department and in the department, pasture management and breeding, cultivation, adaptation and breeding studies are carried out on legume forage crops and gramineous forage crops.
